There are approximately 350 boarding schools in the United Kingdom, predominantly found in the south and central part of England. Historically the U.K. has had many single sex schools with girls taught separately from boys, although there are now many more coeducational schools. Most of the schools follow the National Curriculum for England as their curriculum guidance, leading to the formal qualifications of GCSEs at 16 years and ‘A’ levels at 18 years, although Scotland has its own separate but similar system leading to Scottish ‘Higher’ Grades. More recently, many schools have opted to adopt the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) as an alternative to ‘A’ levels.
Here, we have included a small range of the boarding schools in the U.K. For additional information or support with finding the right boarding school for your child, please contact us.
