The most well-known boarding schools in Europe are found in Switzerland, with a large number also found in Germany, but less so in France, Italy, Spain, and Austria. They tend to accommodate both boys and girls, with only a small number being single sex. The curriculum on offer is wide and varied, with the International Baccalaureate and the British GCSE and ‘A’ level programme, being the most widely offered, although the U.S. High School Diploma, the French Baccalaureate and the German Abitur programme are also offered by some.
